About us
Robert felt that with the population growth in South Eastern Tasmania and the number of creative performers and artists living the area that the time was right to bring live theatre to the community and Sorell on Stage was born. The the first show The Little Red Riding Hood took place in September 2010. Set in the 60's it was a fresh and quirky pantomime for the whole family featuring Anne Burnett, Jack Rheinberger (dec), Peter Allanby, Peter Lane, Robert Thompson (dec), Michelle Pears, Richard Sweet, Tony Brello, Beau Brello, the two Brello sisters, John Grover and Saakia Itchins.
From there the Society has grown and now stages three shows a year as well as entering plays in OneFest and the Deloraine Drama Festival. In 2016, we were awarded an Errol at the Tasmanian Theatre Awards for exceptional, original, community-based performances.
